26 Years On A Bike

It was a cool, crisp southeastern winter afternoon in 1992 when Jeff made his glorious debut to the world of motorcycle riding. Mounted atop a brand new 80cc dirtbike, feet barely touching the ground, the instructions, “release clutch slowly and twist very easily with your right hand” did not serve their intended effect to the virgin rider. The screech of an engine reaching redline, and a miasma of blue-tinted smoke, filled the air and sent witnesses reeling. Bike wheelies and bucks boy to Georgia red clay. Father-instructor runs to rescue. Family & friends gasp. Bike hits barn, breaking handguard. Boy bruises buttocks and ego. So ignites a boy’s life-long romance with two-wheeled internal combustion machines. Indeed his first crash, but certainly not his last…

Jeff’s current race program includes the CMRA Superstock B, Superstock C, Superbike C and Heavyweight Twins classes (Novice). He rides a 2008 Triumph Daytona 675. His number plate is 311, a tribute to Three-Eleven, the greatest band on earth. His other interests include his cat (the other Daytona), surfing, snowboarding, failed entrepreneurial ventures, Indian food, pretentious literature, and volunteering. Jeff currently resides in Houston, Texas.
